A Note from Ady

Ady loved the music video that our class created for her! A HUGE thank you goes out to Miss Latham and Miss Camire for all of their work on this project! Ady sent me a note to say thank you to all of her classmates and wanted me to share it with all of you! Pleasr see below :)

Hooray for Summer!

Summer is finally here! Best wishes to everyone as you venture to 4th grade! If you will be in my class next year, stay tuned this summer as I update my blog with information about our class for the 2017 - 2018 school year!

Monday Field Trip - Rain or Shine!

Monday's field trip will be taking place rain or shine!  Please make sure to dress for the weather.  As of now, it looks like rain, and the entire field trip is outdoors.  Here is a list of items you may want to send with your child:

• Ponco or rain jacket
• Rain boots
• Extra socks
• Change of clothes for when return to school
• Sneakers / dry shoes for when return to school
• Sweatshirt
• Umbrella 
• Lunch etc. wrapped in plastic bag to stay dry

It should be a fun day! :) 

Maternity Leave

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that my last day before maternity leave will be on Thursday, May 4th.  While we are very excited to grow our family, I will greatly miss working with your children each day.  It has been an absolute pleasure to work with each and every one of your children, and I am saddened that I will not be with them until the end of the school year.

Miss Jillian Camire, my long term sub, was in today to meet with our class.  She observed our class routines and spent time getting to know the students.  She will also be visiting on Wednesday morning and for the whole day on Thursday to ensure a smooth transition for all students.

Please know that I fully intend to check my emails while I am on leave so please feel free to copy me on anything that you send to Miss Camire that you would like for me to be aware of.  I also plan to visit the class once things have settled down for us as a family.

I greatly appreciate all of the support and best wishes!  It has been a joy to work with you and your children this year.  Thank you for everything!

Optional Parent Input Form

Just a friendly reminder that optional parent input forms for class placement for next year are due on Friday, May 15th.  In order for your parental input to be considered, your forms must be returned by this date.  Late forms will not be considered in the placement process. 

Ady wins youth volunteer of the year!

Ady won the Hooksett Kiwanis Youth Volunteer or the Year award!! Our whole school community couldn't be more proud!

Pizza Taste Testing!

Our class was selected to taste test two new pizzas for our school! Students ate samples of cheese and garlic pizza and then came up with a list of pros and cons of the new pizza to decide if it should be served at HMS.  Students then wrote persuasive paragraphs to send to the Director of Nutrition Services, Cindy Nusbaum.  We are SO excited to know that our opinion might help to make a change at HMS as well as Underhill and Cawley Middle School!

3L Family Math Night was a HUGE success! Thank you so very much to all of the families that attended.  It was so wonderful to see all of the students playing math games with their families.  The kid were so proud to show their movie.  Thank you again for your continued support!

3L Family Math Night on Thursday

Just a friendly reminder that this Thursday, April 6th is our 3L Family Math Night from 5:00 to 6:00. All families from 3L are invited and encouraged to attend this fun night of math! Come play games as a family and see how math games don't have to involve addition, subtraction, multiplication, division  etc. to be a high quality math game! The best games promote a growth mindset as students learn to persevere and problem solve while having FUN! Most importantly, our class will be showcasing our short seven minute growth mindset movie! You don't want to miss this event!

Our class finished our short movie presentation for 3L Family Math Night! We are SO excited to showcase it to our families on Thursday, April 6th from 5:00 to 6:00 pm while we play math games!  We also have a special treat that we are working on for every family to take home at the end of math night.  You don't want to miss this fun event!

EGG CARTONS NEEDED

Hello everyone!

We are in need of about 25 egg cartons for an upcoming project! If you have any that you could donate to our class I would greatly appreciate it! I know it's last minute but we would need the cartons by next week in order to finish our project on time.  Thanks so much in advance!

NHPTV

Our stories have been sent to NHPTV! Students are now working on their about the author pages as well as a special presentation for Expo Night, which will take place on Monday, April 17th.

If you have not returned your permission slip yet, there is still time to get your story in before the deadline.  Please be sure to return your signed permission slips by Tuesday, March 28th at the absolute latest if you want your child's writing to be entered into the contest.
