This week in 3L...

This week, students have been discussing Martin Luther King Jr.  They brainstormed what they know about MLK and what they want to know.  We then watched a video about about his life and accomplishments and completed a timeline activity.  Students then shared what they learned about MLK.  Finally, students have been reading a reader's theater called I Have a Dream.

In math, students have been working hard on multiplication.  We have discussed the properties of multiplications and observed a variety of patterns that exist when creating equal groups of whole numbers.  Students have greatly enjoyed completing gallery walks to explore the work of others and provide positive feedback and suggestions.

Finally, we are continuing our rocks and minerals unit in science.  This week, we are discussing the four layers of the earth: crust, mantle, inner core, and outer core.

Baby it's COLD outside!

Please be sure to send your child to school each day with a warm jacket, mittens or gloves, some kind of hat or head warmer, and a scarf or neck warmer.  Students should also try to bring winter boots and snow pants if possible.  It is VERY cold outside and students need to be dressed appropriately for the winter weather conditions. Thank you so very much for your help with this!

Math Manipulatives!

Here are some pictures of our class using manipulatives to find the product and quotient of whole numbers.  At home, students can work on their skills by using cereal, marbles, pasta or any other item to create equal groups.
