Bar Modeling for PARENTS!

In class, we have started using bar models to solve word problems.   In an effort to help parents better understand what a bar model is and how it can be used to help students solve word problems, I will be hosting a Bar Modeling for Parents Night for our class.  This event will be on Thursday, November 19th from 5:30 to 6:00 in the Common Area.  I will be introducing what a bar model is, the different kinds of bar models that we will be using in third grade, how bar models are beneficial for student understanding and, of course, will answer any of your questions surrounding this topic. My goal for this event is to help parents understand more about bar models before we begin chapter five.  I will be sending home a letter with more information about this event as well as an RSVP date.
