SCA

This week, Mr. Van, Miss Renee, and Miss Rachel visited our class to discuss what it means to be an earth steward!  We then learned the earth steward pledge and created pictures that showed how we are all connected to our environment in different ways.

100th Day of School!

Thursday, February 12th will mark the 100th day of school!  It is also "Out of this World Day" for friendship week.   Can you think of a way to incorporate the number 100 into your wacky outfit?  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Weekly Math Challenge

Each week, students in our class can participate in the weekly math challenge.  Students can work indecently or collaboratively, whichever they decide.  All students that get the answer correct are entered in a drawing for a prize: homework pass, lunch in the class with two friends, or a day at the teachers desk!  Our first winner was Jake B.  Way to go, Jake! Who will it be next week?

Math Around the World CHAMPION!

Ethan is our reigning champion for Math Around the World! Ethan has been working hard on his multiplication fact fluency.  He is able to use a variety of strategies such as skip counting and using facts he knows to solve multiplication facts fluently.  As recognition for his hard work, he has a trophy on his desk for a week and won lunch with two friends in the classroom! Way to go Ethan! Who will be our next champion?

NWEA Testing

This week, we are continuing to complete NWEA testing.  Students that do not finish during our testing slot will be able to complete the test during a makeup session.

T-Shirts are due Friday, February 6

Please send your child to school with a plain, light colored t-shirt by Friday, February 6th.  We will be  decorating the t-shirts next week in class and will be wearing them to the TIGER presentation in the next few weeks.  If you are able to donate extra t-shirts or t-shirt decorating supplies, it is GREATLY appreciated!  Seeing our whole school come together as everyone wears their shirts to promote self-esteem and positive self-image for our TIGER presentation is going to be amazing!

SCA

Starting this Wednesday, we will have a group of people from the SCA coming to visit our class each week for the next ten weeks!  We are so excited to see what Miss Renee, Miss Rachel, and Mr. Van have to show us as they conduct hands on science lessons each week.  We are all looking forward to working together as we observe, explore, and learn with SCA!
